Officers
President: Kevin Ascate
Hi, I’m Kevin, the current President of this club, but hopefully not the last. Growing up, I’ve tried a variety of sports and activities such as golf, karate, baseball, even competitive Pokémon. However, I never had a passion strong enough for them for me to commit to. Then, in the summer of 2014, I found, downloaded, and played Project M for the first time. Ever since then, I’ve watched countless of Smash competitions and matches, and I indulged myself into the community. As a kid, I played all the Smash games, but PM was the first that contained a version of Dr. Mario that was my favorite. Now, and this may sound silly, but I hope to one day become a professional PM gamer after I graduate college with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering.
While I'm the president of this club, the idea to form this club was not my own. A friend proposed the idea to me, and I went with the idea to form it with a group of friends who volunteered their time and energy whilst dealing with their own busy lives. It was really exciting to see the club grow in such a short amount of time spring of last year, and I look forward to see it grow and expand even more in the next few years. |
Vice-President: Marlou Canosa
What's Gucci? My name's Marlou Canosa, and I am a Super Smash Bros addict. Just kidding. Actually, I just started playing Smash my freshman year of college. I never would have imagined how much this club would change my life. This club has been an easy way for me to relax and meet new friends. None of it would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the rest of the officers. To be honest, everyone else does most of the work. I just come up with some of the ideas. Thanks to them, my dreams are able to become a reality. In the beginning, I envisioned a place that people could just come and enjoy themselves, and I think the club does that vision justice. I hope this club does well and I wish for only the best in the years to come.
I love Smash, but Smash isn't my life. I am currently an NPB major at UC Davis and am thinking of minoring in music. In high school, I was in band and I played the saxophone all four years. I'm thinking of joining the Banda, but I'm still not sure. As far as sports go, I love playing table tennis and badminton. I'm not very good, but I'm always down to play. The rest of my free time is probably spent either watching anime or just hanging out with friends. If you ever want to just chill, I'd probably be down. |
Secretary/Head Designer: Tracy Le
I started out not playing Smash. I still don't really - just casually. It's weird that I got roped into all of this because one day, I just volunteered my PhotoShop services to Kevin and somehow, I ended up being slapped on with the title "Head Designer". Fast forward a couple of weeks and I end up becoming the Secretary of this club. Okay. I really don't mind it though - it's interesting to see a world that I've never been apart of so well-integrated in my life now. Plus, I get to boss around Kevin, so that's a bonus. I'm usually in charge of running everything non-Smash related (because I still don't know that much about it), which includes the stream, part of this website, and most of the social media pages.
I'll be twenty as of October 18, 2015, so gimme some presents, loves. Just kidding. I'm super short - I'll definitely be the shortest one there at club meetings/tournaments. I'm a second year at UC Davis, double-majoring in English and Communications. One day, you'll see my name on a published book - just wait. On my free time, when I'm not helping running this club, I'm usually reading. If not, then I'm writing fanfiction or obsessing over Pokémon or DC superheroes. |
Treasurer: Kalani Murakami
Hi!! My name is Kalani Murakami. I'm the Treasurer of the club. I started playing Smash since Melee came out. I stopped after high school. I'd never thought I'd be playing it again! I'm not really a competitive player, I just like playing casually. My main is Olimar. I loved playing as him in Brawl. I hope Project M revamps him.
I'm a computer science major at UC Davis. I like to play the piano and play tennis on my free time. I like watching anime a lot when doing homework. I like cheeseburgers and mac and cheese the most. My friends invited me to the Project M club and I really enjoyed playing with them as well as the other people who went to the club. I hope you all have the same experience that I did! I hope you all enjoy the club! |
Customizer: Colin Santos
Human Resources: Jeremy Tran
Hi, I'm a fourth year Microbiology major, Comai lab assistant, flutist in the Cal Aggie Marching Band, and Human Resources officer for the Project M Club at UC Davis. I represent the members of the club and ensure that the club maintains an amicable and open environment. I've been playing Smash since '64 was released, but have only started playing competitively since this club has started in the spring. Other interests and hobbies that I have include cycling, running, lifting, classical/chamber flute, competitive League of Legends, Yo-Yo's, food, Netflix, and fashion (specifically techwear).
I hope to partake in the growth and success of this club. I want to make sure that everyone feels welcome and appreciated in the club and that saltiness will not run rampant during friendlies. I look forward to sparring with you all. |
